OpenAI: Fidji Simo Steps Down From Operational Leadership
Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications since May 2025, officially stepped down from her full-time role on July 9, 2026, due to health reasons. She lives with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a chronic neuroimmune condition she was diagnosed with in 2019, and her recent relapse proved longer than anticipated. She is transitioning to a part-time advisory role. OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman took over product responsibilities. Sam Altman said publicly he was “really sad about this.” The departure creates a leadership gap at a critical moment, as OpenAI weighs an IPO and competes with Anthropic for enterprise market share. Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Expected in September
Samsung is reportedly in advanced development on the Galaxy SmartTag 3, its Bluetooth tracker, with a potential launch in September 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 FE. If confirmed, this would end a nearly three-year wait since the SmartTag 2 arrived in 2023. The update is expected to address key weaknesses in the current model, including Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and a tracking network limited to Samsung devices only. Samsung has not yet made any official announcement. Android Central

Apple Pencil: Two New Models With Replaceable Batteries Coming in 2027
Apple is developing two refreshed Apple Pencil models for a planned first-half 2027 launch, reportedly timed to new iPad Pro hardware. The key change: a redesigned battery system that allows end-user replacement — a response to EU regulations on portable battery durability that become legally enforceable in February 2027. One model (codename B582) would refresh the USB-C Apple Pencil; the other (B632) would update the Apple Pencil Pro. Neither model has been announced officially by Apple. Engadget
